The PotashCorp Saskatchewan Rocanville West Expansion is the latest chapter in the series of Supreme Steel Saskatoon's work on Potash Corporation expansions. The series of projects started in 2003 with the PCS Rocanville Compactor Project, and we have now returned to Rocanville for the largest PCS expansion to date. The initial project estimate is for 20,000 plus tons of steel. This work will push the capacity of Plant 2 and our erection forces well into the 3rd quarter of 2012.
Work began in late 2008 with the fabrication and erection of multiple support buildings. These buildings were required, as their existing counterparts were demolished to make room for the new process plant. Work has begun on the project's loadout facility. The Loadout reconstruction includes 1200 ft. of elevated conveyor galleries, associated transfer houses, and remedial work to the existing product storage warehouse adds up to just over 2000 tons. This work poses additional challenges, for our erection forces. The plant is still producing potash and the loadout must remain functioning through the demolition and reconstruction process.
